Shardul Thakur impressed yet again with his bowling in the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament by taking a hattrick against Meghalaya. He ended up being the top wicket-taker for Mumbai with figures of 4-43. The match is happening at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in BKC, Mumbai. Have a look at his hat-trick below:
Meghalaya were bundled out for a paltry 86. Himan Phukan, who came to bat at number 10, was their top scorer with 28 runs. Apart from Shardul, Mohit Avasthi took three wickets, while Sylvester D’Souza claimed two. On the other hand, Mumbai were 213/2 at stumps on Day 1. Siddhesh Lad is batting on 89 while skipper Ajinkya Rahane is not out on 83. Mumbai is currently at number 3 position in Group A with 22 points. Jammu and Kashmir is at the top with 29 points followed by Baroda at 27 points.
The all-rounder took a hat-trick in just the second over of the match, after Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane decided to field first after winning the toss. The batters he got out were Balchander Anirudh, Sumit Kumar and Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva. Shardul has improved his chances of being included in the Indian men’s cricket team. The Indian cricket team selectors and management keep a close eye on the new trophy matches and the players who perform well and generally pit up to play for India. This year, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are also playing Ranji Trophy after their poor run with the bat in Australia and the home series against New Zealand.
