T20 World Cup: Virat Kohli joins Team India in US days after other teammates

Virat Kohli has missed 3 practice sessions so far. It is not yet sure whether he will be playing in the warm-up game against Bangladesh on June 1

Virat Kohli has joined team India in the US for the T20 World Cup. He has joined his the squad in New York which arrived in batches a few days earlier. The first batch of players arrived on May 25 while the second group touched down on May 28.

Kohli has missed 3 practice sessions so far. It is not yet sure whether Kohli will be playing in the warm-up game against Bangladesh at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 1. Rohit Sharma will be leading the team.

Kohli will still get to be part of 3 practice sessions with the team before India’s first match on June 5. The former Indian captain had a great IPL with the bat scoring 741 runs in 15 matches. Apart from his batting, his fielding was talked about a lot. His team Royal Challengers Bangalore qualified for the playoffs but were eliminated by Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator.

Meanwhile, the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will start on June 2 (according to Indian Standard Time) with USA taking on Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, Texas. For the first time in the T20 World Cup's 17 years history, 20 teams are participating. They are divided into 4 groups of 5 teams each. India is a part of Group A which also has Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and USA. Group B has England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland and Oman. Group C includes New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. And Group D has Bangladesh, Uganda, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea and Nepal.
