Market Crash: Investors lose ₹6 lakh crore as Sensex plummets 941 points

It was a black Monday as investors lost ₹6 lakh crore in a single day. The overall market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms fell to nearly ₹442 lakh crore from ₹448 lakh crore in the previous session. The Nifty shed 309 points (1.27%) to close at 23,995 while the Sensex was down 941 points (1.18%) to close at 78,782. All sectors ended in red. Nifty Realty, Oil & Gas and Media fell over 2%. Nifty Bank, Auto, Financial Services, FMCG, Metal, Private Bank and Consumer Durables fell 1. Nifty made an intraday low of 23,816 before recovering 182 points. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices fell 1.31 per cent and 1.65 per cent, respectively.
The US elections, FED policy and China’s policy announcement are lined up for this weak and are the likely causes for today’s fall.
Even the broader market was weak as 1878 shares declined and only 473 ended in green in the NSE.
