World Mental Health Day 2024: Deepika Padukone opens up about postpartum stress

New mom Deepika Padukone recently shared her experiences of postpartum challenges following the birth of her daughter. Last month, Deepika and her husband, actor Ranveer Singh, welcomed their first child, a baby girl. During a conversation with entrepreneur and media magnate Arianna Huffington at the Live Love Laugh Foundation Lecture series for World Mental Health Day 2024, Deepika opened up about feeling sleep-deprived, burnt out, and stressed.
“When you are sleep-deprived or burnt out, the decisions that you make are affected. I can actually feel it. On particular days when I am feeling stressed or burnt out because I haven’t slept enough or practiced my self-care rituals, I can tell that my decision-making is getting affected to some extent,” Deepika revealed. The video of their conversation was shared by The Quint.
In the same conversation, Deepika discussed how people often hold onto negative emotions, particularly criticism. She highlighted the importance of learning from these experiences rather than letting them weigh you down. “It’s absolutely normal and human to feel pain, anger, and some of these extreme emotions. The larger picture is how do you deal with that criticism and how do you use it positively to work on yourself. You will have to put in the work and be patient,” she said.
