Varun Chakraborty’s impressive bowling in the recently concluded T20 series against England has earned him a place in India’s ODI team. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav, who was India’s T20 captain, will be playing a Ranji trophy game for Mumbai and so will Shivam Dube. They will be part of Mumbai’s quarter-final fixture against Haryana, to be played from February 8 to 12 in Lahli. Suryakumar managed to score just 28 runs in the T-20 series.

Varun was the Player of the Series in India’s 4-1 victory against England. He took 14 wickets at an average of 9.86 with an economy of 7.66. He was also the second highest wicket-taker in this season’s Vijay Hazare Trophy

Varun travelled with the ODI squad to Nagpur, the venue for the first ODI. He was a part of the team’s training session. India and England will lock horns against each other on Thursday. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar are already a part of the Indian team. So it will be interesting to see how many days hours actually make it in the playing 11.
