Roger Federer gave some valuable life lessons which we all can take inspiration from.

Tennis legend Roger Federer was at his wittiest and humorous best as he gave a speech at the commencement ceremony Dartmouth College. He gave some valuable life lessons which we all can take inspiration from.

“I say that as someone who has heard that word a lot. ‘Effortless.' People would say my play was effortless. Most of the time, they meant it as a compliment… But it used to frustrate me when they would say. ‘He barely broke a sweat!',” Roger Federer said.

“The truth is, I had to work very hard… to make it look easy. I spent years whining… swearing… throwing my racket… before I learned to keep my cool… I didn’t get where I got on pure talent alone. I got there by trying to outwork my opponents,” he added.

Roger also spoke about his ex-rival Nadal with whom he played many Grand Slam finals. He said that it would’ve been good if he and not Nadal would have won the 2008 Wimbledon final which was an epic 5-setter.

Rogers dressed on the importance of giving everything your best but not dwelling upon it once it is over. He explained this by using tennis points as an example he said that it is important to leave behind the good points as well as the bad points and focus on the next point.

He added that his life was more than Tennis. “Even when I was in the top five… it was important to me to have a life… a rewarding life, full of travel, culture, friendships, and especially family… I never abandoned my roots, and I never forgot where I came from.”
