India’s Got Latent Row: Cops file case against Ranveer Allahbadia, guests and hosts from other episodes

Maharashtra’s cyber cell unit filed a case against not just Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina but all the people involved from Episode 1 to 6.

Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina

The controversy over India’s Got Latent is far from over. A day after Assam police filed a case against Youtuber Ranveer Allahbadia, Maharashtra’s cyber cell unit filed a case against not just Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina but all the people involved from Episode 1 to 6.

According to reports, action has been taken against 40-odd people.

“A case has been filed against a total of 30 to 40 people. A case has been filed against all the people who were involved from the first episode of the show to episode 6. The process of sending notices to everyone has been started. Everyone will be called to record their statements,” ANI quoted Maharashtra Cyber Cell as saying.

According to sources, the Cyber Department found that participants and others associated with the show, including guests, were seen using “vulgar and obscene” language.

On the show, he had asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have s*x every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever.” After a lot of backlash, he posted an apology video yesterday on X and said, “My comment wasn't just inappropriate, it was not even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry.”

Reacting on the India’s Got Latent video, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “I have been informed about this, though I have not watched it yet. I came to know that it was very vulgar and this was wrong. Everyone has freedom of speech but this freedom ends when we encroach upon others' freedom. Everyone has limits, if anyone crosses them, action will be taken.”

Meanwhile, the internet is divided on the controversy. Many feel that filing a case against Ranveer and others is taking it a bit too far and the authorities should rather focus more on more pressing issues like bad AQI.
